The Official Smoky Eye!
Hello Divas! Before I blog about beauty, I must tell you that there is seriously something wrong with me. I just finished watching the season finale of Dexter and I couldn't quit crying! Don't worry - I won't say another word since I know some of you are DVRing it and others are buying the season on DVD. But good lord! Dexter isn't even real and I'm all involved in his life! That's what I call getting to close to your characters (or needing some sleep and relaxation!)
So, I decided to blog in order to clear my head while I wear my under-eye cooling mask to reduce the teary puffiness!
This week, I learned how to do the smoky eye. It's been an experience, let me tell you. First off, I only know how to do the version from Smashbox that comes in the Master's Class Glamour Eyes Kit in Hazel. I have plenty of products and brushes with which to practice, but I'm not sure how interested I am in doing it. Mostly because trying it myself for a holiday party took over an hour!!!
Here's the scoop. I visited Sephora on Friday night and the Smashbox makeup artists from LA was in town. She did my eyes (as you can see) with this kit and I paid close attention so I could repeat the steps. Well, the kit comes with great instructions, not only for smoky eyes, but also for the perfect cat eye (not interested) and the perfect basic eye. So you don't have to do the whole night-time-seriously-diva thing every day!
This was my shot at it! I am going to eventually redo it step by step so you can practice too, if you think it will help. But what you should know that was the key is when you get to the first step with the
smudge brush on the bottom of the eye, you think to yourself "Holy Crap! I spend all this time trying to RID myself of the dark circles under my eyes and now you want me to paint them on?!?!?!?" Well, as the makeup artist told me, you just have to keep going. Eventually, it will all turn out okay. And remember, light lip gloss so you don't look like a street walker. Also, I would definitely go darker on the edges next time, but I was afraid!
The kit comes in brown eyes, blue eyes and hazel eyes. For some reason, Sephora is currently out of the hazel eye kit online. But give it a try. See what you think and send me an email of your test!
