Liposuction or Clarins? Foundation or Tinted Moisturizer? Paper or Plastic? So Many Beauty Questions!

Hello Divas! Happy October! I don't know how many of you have caught this early flu, but if you haven't, well, lucky you AND two words: hand sanitizer! I highly recommend the new scents from Bath & Body works (apple cider and pumpkin spice), but their comment scents are on sale for a mere $3.33 for 7 ounces. They don't dry your hands nearly as badly as Purel. Anyhoo ... let's S-A-M-P-L-E!

And to start, I want to discuss Clarins. I have said before and I will say again, I am normally not a believer in anything that sounds too good to be true, even though I really have to work to convince myself something is too good to be true. So, believe me when I tell you that this is now my second report and confirmation that Clarins High Definition Body Lift Lotion really works. My skin has never felt so soft and my cellulite was visible reduced. I received a larger sample that let me try it for 4 days straight. OMG! I honestly can't live without it now. I hate that it is $65. But, seriously, it's cheaper than plastic surgery, right? The only reason I have not bought it is because I'm going to go to Sephora and see if the even-more-expensive one works better: $88 Super Restorative Redefining Body... in a sample, of course! Stay tuned.

And while on the Clarins discussion, many of you have probably received the free sample from Sephora of Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. Very interesting. It super, duper thick and it's a primer. It totally feels like spackle!!! I think it would be perfect for wrinkles, but it's a a bit of overkill for fine lines and it is definitely too much for those of you in your 20s. But, it's going in the back of my mind for my 50s for sure. By then, though, they will probably sell Botox injections at Sephora!

And while on the subject of primers, I was quite surprised by my use of Korres Vitamin E Face Primer. Essentially, it's exactly what I was explaining the other day - primer should feel like primer and moisturizer should feel like moisturizer. But, this was a very interesting item. It is a moisturizing primer and, if you had to only use one product for both, I think this would do a good job. Certainly, you aren't going to get the maximum benefits of either type of product by using a catch-all but, let's face it, sometimes that is all you have time for! It also has zero scent, which I like. I highly recommend having a little tube of at least the $10 size in your cabinet for days where you need to move more quickly in your face regimen.

Now that you have been totally convinced that you must have a primer, let's talk foundation. A great sample right now is Peter Thomas Unwrinkle Foundation. It didn't overly "wow" me. It was foundation, what can I say? I don't think it "unwrinkled" anything, but I also think the anti-aging properties are supposed to occur over time. It does have SPF 20, which is a good thing. I'd personally prefer trying the Diorskin Nude Foundation before confirming this one is soooooo good.

I also tried Lorac Oil-Free Makeup. Now this I really liked. As you know, I have Napoleon Perdis on my must have foundation list. I should warn you that the reason is because of the fabulous color, smoothness, and the coverage. So, Napoleon might not be right if you have significant wrinkles, pores or dry skin. Now, this Lorac product would really be great for any skin type. It's quite light, but still gives good coverage and smoothness. It's also a major positive at formerly $30 and on sale for $7.50. With 10 shades, you are sure to find one that is right for you.

Oh and I tried Clinique Superfit Makeup, a current free sample at Sephora, as well. Eh. Foundation. Whatever. Not too heavy, but doesn't really add anything to your complexion. It doesn't brighten, I needed bronzer, and it was just kind of blah. I'd rather use tinted moisturizer. I will say, though, that it comes in the most shades I have ever seen foundation come in. So, if finding the right shade is typically your problem, it just can't be with this line.

And once you use all of that foundation, you'll need to clean up, right? Let's talk about pores. I used Dr. Brandt's Pores No More Cleanser. It's actually a great foaming cleanser and gives you that squeaky clean feeling and, again, it's totally unscented. I think it's a great product for oily skin and for enlarged pores or problematic blackheads. It's definitely too strong for dry skin, however. I do have to say that the DHC Foaming Cleanser on my must have list is just as good, however, and much cheaper.

On that note, I gave Dr. Brandt's Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner several tries. I wanted to see what I could really say about it. First off, you pump it out and rub it on your pores. It hardens and turns white instead of the clear that it was, and then you wash it off with lukewarm water. The product is supposed to help loosen blackheads by absorbing dirt and oil. Now, I don't have a major problem with pores, but I have some areas on my nose that I wanted help with. I think it was o-k-a-y. I think that someone with that skin issue - enlarged pores, will really have to test it out and see what they think. At $45, I kind of expected the blackhead to just come right out after using the stuff. That totally didn't happen.

Well ladies. A girl can only blog so much. She must get her beauty sleep. Alright, whatever, I have to get back to work. But thanks for letting me share my beauty fun!
