Must Miss Moisturizers, But the Benefit of Body Wash!!!

It's kind of a bummer to have nothing fun to report about, but I figure saving you from the expense of loser products is still worth blogging about! Also, one woman's loser lotion is another woman's perfect potion! Let's discuss... I recognize that skin dries as you age. Fine. But now that I have experienced what truly wonderful lotion can do for your skin, I want it all - great smell, softness, and moisture that lasts throughout the day - all without feeling too sticky or too wet.

You know I'm a fan of Clarins High Definition Body Lift, but you really don't need that
everywhere and, let's face it, mint isn't exactly the most appealing smell in the world. First and foremost, however, let's discuss the single key to body softness throughout the day ... bath and body gel. If you are a soap and water type gal and have never experienced the feeling of your skin after a good sudsing with a bath and body lotion ... girl... you are in for a treat! Sure, you can exfoliate and loofah scrub to your heart's content and feel the softness after remoisturizing with a lotion. But ... that is not for every day and takes such effort. I'm talking just replacing your soap with a body gel. Get yourself a little sample of whatever smells most glamorous to you from your local Sephora and lather up! You'll thank me for it. Here are a few of my favs:

Philosophy Pure Grace Foaming Bath & Shower Cream. I love this smell and it's a fantastic started for those of you who are just addicted to the clean, soapy smell. The scent really fades if you don't use a Philosophy lotion, but the smoothness lasts all day. Philosophy's Amazing Grace scent is available in a perfumed buffing wash. That has microexfoliant beads if you just have to scrub.

Malin + Goetz Bergamot Body Wash. This is hands down the best body wash anywhere. The scent is very clean and kind of earthy, the sudsing is terrific, the cleanse is perfect and the smoothness when you step out of the shower is unbeatable. Definitely my fav. But, come on, a girl's gotta keep sampling to be sure, right?

Sephora Body Wash in Apple Pomegranate. Sephora brand is an okay body gel. It isn't something you should start with or you'll never believe me about the powers of body gel. The reason is it doesn't suds up very well at all! However, the scent is terrific and lasts quite awhile. This scent is super strong and smells like a fresh red apple. Very tasty. A bit cheaper for sure than the Philosophy brands, but Philosophy has better sudsing.

Sephora Body Wash in Tropical Jasmine. When you just need to feel that get-away-to-Hawaii feeling, this is the key. The smell is absolutely island perfect. The only way to one up the scent is to slather on Hawaiian Tropics after you get out of the shower. At just $2 for a small body wash, you can afford to test your favorite scent.

Bliss Fabulous Foaming Body Wash. This one really suds-up. So if you like that about your products, this is a great one. I must confess that I used the darn Bliss lotion noted below afterward and, since I don't like it because it is too heavy, I can't confirm whether it would have really kept me soft all day. It's got a good clean scent, but it doesn't compare to the Philosophy Grace collection to me.

Fresh Sugar Lemon Shower Body Gel. Again, I just love the Fresh brand. Everything about their perfumes and cleansers and lotions are excellent. This particular one is super lemony and feels great. I find that you have to use a lot and it is a bit pricey, so I like my free samples, for sure. And, if you do use this one, you just have to use their lotion afterward to keep that clean lemon scent all day. This is a great brand to request as a sample.

Philosophy Peppermint Hot Cocoa Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath. I really do love every single Philosophy bath gel. I don't actually recommend using their triple items as shampoo - I mean, our hair is way to delicate for that. But, when you just want one of their special scents (like the current holiday egg nog), go ahead - slather it on. I caution you with this product, however, that if you are going to use it ... use it as a bubble bath so you can have your own hot cocoa with you. Otherwise, you might end up licking your fingers on accident! P.S. These don't leave you as soft as the bath & body creams.

Now for the Must Miss Moisturizers. Okay ... maybe a few I can live with.

Murad Body Firming Cream. Allegedly to treat cellulite, I noticed absolutely no difference. Unfortunately, this is not because I have no cellulite to treat. I also don't care for the smell of any Murad products, much like I don't like the smell of Shiseido. It's too ... perfumey. I also think this cream is much too thick, much like I feel about most Murad products. So ... perhaps if your skin is really dry, you might take a look a this cream. But, don't expect any firming benefits.

Korres Guava Body Butter. This one, I liked. Oddly enough, this is for extra dry skin. Go figure! It's moisture lasted all day, which is what I think is the key, as opposed to simply being thick at the start. The fruity scent was nice, but it didn't mix well with my perfume. So, I think I would try one of their other scents, such as Basil Lemon, Jasmine or even Yogurt.

Philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough Omega 3-6-9 Replenishing Body Lotion. I know, I know. I keep trying the When Hope Is Not Enough products and I keep going against Oprah! Well, maybe there is something wrong with my skin, but I just don't like this stuff. It's too thick and cakey and it doesn't last all day. I am not the type of person to reapply lotion. Sure, I'll reapply on my hands because I wash those. But I don't want to get home at night and feel like my legs need more lotion again. That's what I am looking for. And, as the same time, not feeling like I dipped myself in Vaseline or Crisco in the morning. This product is a little too Crisco-y for me.

Bliss Blood Orange & White Pepper Body Butter. Mmmmmm. You'll love the thick, fresh scent of these oranges. But ... THICK is the operative word. I can't take the fell of Bliss Body Butter. It feels too much like ... well ... butter. However, I love Bliss Body Butter Light. That's much more my style. Too bad they don't make this great scent in light. If you love smelling fruity and want to change up the lemon scent every so often, this citrus blend is a terrific addition to your lotion.

Fresh Sugar Lemon Body Lotion. Again, soft, lovely, silky and a beautiful fresh and clean lemon scent. However, this one will not last. Much like Fresh's lip gloss, you'll find yourself reapplying throughout the day. The lotion is light enough, however, with such a soft scent, that you really don't mind. The question then becomes one of money. If you like to reapply during the day, this is the product. If you don't, then why get something you'll just go through faster? Now, if you go to the gym or to yoga and need to reapply after a noon-ish shower, then this is a great product. It will go wonderfully with any scent of the Fresh perfume products you choose.
