Oh Me Oh My, I'm Super Dry! (Thanks to Doggie Kisses!!!)
I can't believe how many samples I still have left to try! I'm so excited because I think that, by the time I have tried all of the products I have, I will have sampled the entire WORLD of beauty products! Today, I have a report about dryness, which kind of seems to be a theme for me these past few weeks!
So, last night, I received so many dog kisses that all of my moisturizer was licked off. I just rinsed my face with water, continued to watch the movie I was enjoying (Confessions of a Shopaholic - Book is better, but cute!) and then forgot to do my nightly ritual or at least reapply. Well, this morning, I woke up
all dry and tight. You could actually see it on my face! So I immediately pulled out the brand who clearly markets to dry skin - Murad. I used the Murad Renewing Cleansing Cream. Touted as an intensive, hydrating cleanser that exfoliates to brighten skin's appearance and protect skin from the effects of hormonal aging. It was definitely a mild cleanser and I didn't really feel any of the exfoliant, but it did feel like it restored some of the moisture I was clearly missing, which is unique, in my opinion, for a cleanser. While this product isn't going on my must-have list just yet (let me add a few years to my face and it may very well!), I did learn how important the nightly ritual is for my face and that was a big learning tool.
I also tried yet another eye cream that claims to reduce puffiness and redness. Short of pulling a full Joan Crawford and drowning my face in a bowl of ice water (which I have been known to do recently to pretend I had a good night's sleep), I am still using Chanel's eye cream. Today, I tried Boscia Enlivening Amino-AG Eye Treatment. It was a bit thick for a daytime eye cream and it also did NOT reduce the puffiness or diminish the dark circles to the extent I would have liked. It definitely did hydrate the skin around my eyes and would work better, for me, as a night eye cream.
Underneath my moisturizer today I tried a product I've been wanting to use due to dryness - The
Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum. It is a pre-moisturizer treatment for continuance, enhanced moisturisation and protection for all skin types. It was light and airy, but did take some time to soak in. I like pre-moisturizers when I don't plan of wearing makeup because it feels like it gives me an extra layer of protection, just like primer does. Of course, I'm not going to use primer if I am not going to wear makeup. I do like this serum, but the Chanel version is, of course, a bit silkier and I wouldn't feel "over-moisturized" if I later decided to wear makeup, which I fear might happen with this product.
Earlier I tried the infamous Amatokin Emulsion for the Face. I don't know what the heck to say about this product. I mean, it's obviously nothing to write about for a one time or two time tryout. I
mean, it's $190 for an ounce. The crazy part is that my sample is a third of an ounce, so I have a LOT of times to try it. The point of it is to dramatically reduce the appearance of wrinkles and skin discoloration. You are supposed to rub it into your deepest lines first (only a pea size for the full face) and make sure to rub in circles on the rest of the face until the product is fully soaked in. I'm going to keep rubbing it in my "law school wrinkle" that I always talk about and my forehead. It probably won't do a damn thing, but I'll let you know.
Lastly, I used Stila's All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer this weekend. It's way more gold than the picture shows, but it's a great product for summer. As the product says, it's a great way to add a lightweight, flirty sheen to your eyes, cheeks, collarbone, etc. I used the nail polish like applicator just to get it on my fingertips, then I swirled on the tops of my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and the inside portion of my eyes. It was just enough shimmer to create a brightened, dewey look. I liked it! Plus, since I only had on tinted moisturizer for makeup, I liked that it wasn't a powder, which would have looked to cakey. This would definitely be a product I would want on a beach vacation!
