Pinch Your Cheeks and Turn Up the Tan (er ... Tanner)!
Well, yesterday I tried what has to qualify as THE SCARIEST MAKEUP EVER!!! It’s a product called “Pinch Your Cheeks” by Origins. The color is Brownberry (the only color it comes in) and let me tell you… the color is practically pitch black when it comes out! So you put a little on your fingertips from this tiny metal tube and you’re supposed to quickly rub it on the apple of your cheeks then wash your hands so your fingertips don’t stain. I’m telling you, I thought I was going to look like the Bride of Chucky. Well … I did it and it was FABULOUS!!!! I mean FABULOUS!!! It was super scary at first, but it blended so softly and smoothly and it really did look like someone just “pinched my cheeks” for a little pop of color. It felt great and was one of my most favorite looks all weekend. The bottle did what it promised – made you look like you lightly blushed.
Bare Escentuals RareMinerals Renew & Reveal Facial Cleanser: This is a definite no. It’s a powder that you mix with water to make a foaming cleanser. It was fun, but it kind of smelled and I’m too clumsy to keep the powder from going everywhere. It was a decent sample, but not a product I’ll be purchasing!
L’Occitane Ultra Rich Body Crème: I used this all over my body and was pleased with how hydrating it was. However, it wasn’t “smooth” enough. It was kind of like a body butter in that it was really thick, as opposed to a more liquidy feel, which is what I like. Plus, it didn’t have an awesome smell. It is marketed for “very dry skin”, which I just don’t have. I think my mom will love it for her hands!
Lastly – I did it! Tan in a bottle!!! I used a mango sugar exfoliant from Target and set my sights on Loreal’s Sublime Self-Tanner. I am completely self-tanner retarded and usually turn myself a streaky orange. It did add a nice glow, but I completely messed up my feet and my toes are a bit orange (which took a long time to try to exfoliate off). I definitely feel better than having gone to the tanning salon, which was the next move for me since I am sooooooo pale. However, I still don’t think this one has the answer. I haven’t found anything better than Jergen’s Daily Glow, but I wanted something to work more quickly. AND … they all stink, including this one. Now that I have a good glow though, I bet I could do this once a week and use the Jergen’s on the other days. It definitely requires moisture afterwards and it got darker the next day. I like how it was super slick and you really could see where you were putting it on your skin. All in all, I was impressed compared to the self-tanners I have tried. Clarins is next, I think.
SEPHORA - Your current favorite Sephora Promo Codes are available at retailmenot.com.
RESTORATION HARDWARE- It would be so much simpler to just live in the store. I am in love with all things Flax, Graphite and Belgian Linen.
BANANA REPUBLIC- I do wish they made a size larger, but I feel so sophisticated in this store.
MAXI DRESS - There are very, very few that look good on women of size, but they are sooooo comfortable and don't have to look too relaxed. I love Olivia Moon's slanted stripe in black and gray from Nordstrom.
