Flawless and Volumized or Flawed and Flat???

I finally tried the Laura Mercier Flawless Face Kit. This includes the foundation primer, the tinted moisturizer, the dual concealer with Secret Camouflage, the powder, two powder puffs and two make up brushes. Drum roll please … I hate it. It was allegedly $159 worth of product for $65 and it wasn’t worth one cent of it. First off, the Stila tinted moisturizer is much softer and provides better coverage than Mercier’s. Secondly, the brushes are a total joke. The one you are supposed to put the concealer on is the width of a lip brush. It’s only good for covering blemishes, not any red. I eventually had to switch to my fingers. I also found the “secret camouflage” concealer to be too cakey. The primer is not nearly as soft or long lasting as Smashbox. Oh – and the sponge for the moisturizer eats up so much moisturizer, it doesn’t get any on your face. Then – the powder is in such a teeny tiny pot that you practically have to dump it out to get any on. Now, I tried it TWICE, according to the directions, to see if it was something bad about my face that day. Nope – hate it. Total waste of money. I talked to the woman at the Sephora counter and here’s what she told me. “Laura Mercier has an amazing line of products, but is much more for the artist, as opposed to the regular user. If you want to complete your make up in 20 minutes, this product is not for you. You should come in for a consultation regarding how to properly apply the product. If you use it right, the coverage is amazing.” Whatever! 20 minutes?!?!?!? I usually do my makeup in the car and I only have 10 minutes max. Yeah, this is NOT going to work for me. Sorry Jo! :-)

Velocity Facial Cleanser: When I used it, I had no idea it was a Mary Kay product. I like it, but it feels like it can’t really figure out what it is… two or three pieces of something that feels like an exfoliant, but generally a good feeling on my face.

GHD Elevation Shampoo & Conditioner: Yeah right. It elevated nothing but my irritation level. It’s called “a new religion for hair.” If that’s the case, I’m an atheist. It was supposed to give volume and lift to fine, limp hair. It did nothing to my hair. Nothing! Not soft, not smooth, not silky, not attractive and definitely not elevated.

Kerastase Resistance Volumactive Volume Expansion Spray (Fine & Vulnerable Hair): You know I love Kerastase, so it made complete sense that I give this a try in trying to lift my flat hair. Well, again, I’m looking for magic and getting NOTHING. I tried this one about three times – using less, using more, using just the right amount, putting it only on the roots, etc. Nothing. No lift, no volume, no help. Won’t buy it again. I’m still mad it cost $36 at the Nordstrom Rack and it doesn’t do a darn thing. Plus, it kind of made my hair feel gross. I still love Kerastase, but this is not the right product for me.
