Body Scrubs, a New Must Have and a Few Must Misses! Happy Weekend!

Well it wasn't that exciting of a weekend for sampling because I did not get a whole lot of sleep. When that happens, I tend not to care too much about sampling and will do anything to make my skin feel hydrated and look balanced. I did, however, take advantage of a couple of long hot showers. So, I tried a few products.

First up is Bliss Carrot & Sesame Body Scrub with Hydrating Honey. At first, I really liked the honey smell. Then I realized that it was kind of sticky and it didn't feel like it washed off very well. It did make my legs smooth for shaving, but the scent of carrots was eventually too overwhelming for me in my small shower. I prefer to love what I'm smelling that's going on my body. Not really a fan. I do see that the product is not available at Sephora, but that it is a staple of a few salons and their body buffing services. Maybe it's because I didn't have the Finishing Foam. What I really want to try is Bliss Hot Salt Scrub. It suspends 70% Dead Sea salt in a self-heating gel of rosemary and eucalyptus oils. It warms as you rub and the salt minerals soften as you moisturize. Next time I make a Sephora trip, I'll be requesting a special sample.

Next up was DHC Scalp Cleansing Shampoo. You know how sometimes you just have too much product in your hair and you feel like you need a fresh start? That's how I was feeling. Or, at least that is what I told myself was wrong with my hair. The reality was that I wanted to try this stupid sample and I was tired of using coloring shampoos. Well, I liked it! It foamed up really well and my hair felt clean without feeling stripped.

After I got out of the shower, I used Kiehl's Heat Protective Silk Straightening Cream. Whoops! The reason I say this is because, after nicely removing all of that thick product from my hair, I basically put in a product that made my hair feel heavy and weighted down! I concentrated on the ends, as suggested, but my hair just feels a little dull and thick with product. I suspect when some product burns off in the flat iron I'll like it better.

Moving onto the face, I also tried DHC Eye Bright. It was a clear, gel-like substance that is supposed to reduce puffiness and redness and stimulate weary-looking eyes. NOPE! It just made my moisturizer go on weird and I got no good tingles that I expected from the caffeine and licorice. Must miss.

I did try Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer this weekend. Stila is much, much better. I even like Smashbox better, which I felt went on a little like foundation. This one goes on thick (like a thicker moisturizer), but doesn't even out the skin tone as well as the others. Stila is still the best here, which is good because Laura is $42! (Stila is still $34.)

One last shout out for Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation. The days I didn't use it, because I was trying other product, I actually missed the way it made my face feel and the super complexion it gave me. For that reason, it is going on Your Daily Sample Must Have list. I also noted that, by Sunday, it was no longer a free sample at Sephora and it has been replaced with Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer (which is a product I don't care for - a highly unnecessary step).

Well, next week promises to be interesting with the golf tournament coming up. I have a feeling I will be reporting on sunscreen and then sunburn solution products. I know that I will be super-anxious to wash my face that night and particularly to take the Oompa Loompa eyebrows off! I'm excited that my favorite Philosophy Microdelivery Wash is a 100-point bonus perk this week. I scooped that up right away and will be using it as soon as I can on Friday. Happy beautifying!
