A Quick Update and the Must Have Smashbox Kit of the Month!

Instead of showing you a picture of what I really feel like, I thought I would show you a picture of what I want to feel like! Doesn't she look all peaceful and calm and comfy on the sand there? Well, I have about 12 THOUSAND things going on, not the least of which is this little thing called "my job". What I love about "my job" is that, with the amount of work I have to do right now, I am feeling very secure in the knowledge that it will still be there tomorrow. What I am not loving about my job right now is that I can barely breathe before stressing out about the next thing that has to be scratched off the "to do" list. So ... since I just finished an enormous file (oh, I'm a managing attorney by the way, for those of you who don't know), I thought I would reward myself with a little sample break. I have plenty to blog about, but just can't get to it all right now. So here a taste of the previous week:

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion: This is an amazing sunscreen. It is the highest face sun screen/moisturizer and I sampled it from that Sephora sun package I bought last month and love the fact that it is SPF 55 and yet barely feels like sunscreen! It's the first time I think that my nose hasn't gotten burned while golfing. However, I did continue to reapply with my favorite facial moisturizer/sunscreen - Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion in SPF 30 during the day. The reason that is my favorite is because it has absolutely no scent and goes on so silky smooth that you really just feel like you are wearing a moisturizer. Unfortunately, it's a lot pricier than Shiseido ($24.70/oz v. $11.52/oz), so I think I might stick with that one for golf days. It doesn't really smell and is only a bit less silky than Peter's brand. (I wonder if I had such a cool name whether I would use all three of them in branding myself?)

Anyhoo ... I also discovered a lower cost version of Philosophy's Divine Illumination, which you just can't seem to get at Sephora. It's Smashbox Illuminating Serum and it's just a few bucks. It just kind of brightens your face a bit and makes you look more awake. You can even reapply during the day. I think this product will be AWESOME in the Winter. (If you have darker skin, however, you will probably want to go back over that with Bare Essencuals Warmth or whatever your personal bronzer product is). While we are on the subject, I highly recommend the current super-product-pack available only at Sephora from Smashbox called Master Class Vol. 4. It contains $175 worth of product (each one absolutely fabulous) for only $59. A huge tube of the Illuminating Serum is included, not to mention a totally great lipgloss - Smashbox Quench Moisture Rich Lipgloss in a totally fab shade for everyone. It comes out super pink, but goes on just like a dark, rich gloss. Absolutely lovely and also quite a large size! After being so disappointed with the Smashbox Emulsion Lip Exfoliant (way too much peppermint and moisture, not enough exfoliant), this was a pleasant surprise.

Now, the Smashbox O-Glow is a little odd and takes some getting used to. It's a tint (meaning one of those creepy potions you put on your fingers and rub really quickly into the apple of your cheeks). But, what's creepy about this one is that it comes out like a clear gel with absolutely no color but can get pink really quickly. So, use sparingly. I noticed you need a lot of the product after it kind of mixes with your skin though. Origins "Pinch Your Cheeks" is definitely better, but a completely different color. Again, it is supposed to work with your personal skin chemistry. My chemistry must shout - MAKE ME PINK!!!

Sorry ladies but that is all I have time for today. More mascara, eye creams, moisturizers and makeup will be forthcoming when I get some more time. Meanwhile, keep beautifying and sampling without me! I would hate to think you're all sitting out there looking like me right now. Such a thought really disturbs my "chi". Happy Weekend!
