I have an update on two of the products that were the subject of the last Daily Sample:
First off is the Maybelline Self Tanner. This item is going straight into the trash can. The tan was already fading by the second day and I’m going to have to reapply the L’Oreal Sublime tonight. The verdict: Don’t waste your money!
Second, the Chanel Eye Lift Anti-Puffiness/Dark Circle Eye Lotion: I used it again this weekend and it really does work! It makes my eyes feel a little “tight”, which I suppose it the point of the product, so I might try some others to see if I get the same result.
Remember how much I loved the Chanel Age Delay Time Fighting Rejuvenation Lotion and I wanted to test it with makeup on top? Well – when I put my makeup on to go to the grocery store, it was everything I hoped it would be. Fantastic! That’s also thanks in part to a new product in my line-up… Prime Time Foundation Primer. Read on!
BareVitamins Prime Time Foundation Primer: Thanks to Michelle, I didn’t even have to open my sample packet since she loaned me the product. I have a ton of makeup primers to try, but this one is SPECTACULAR. And, I hate to say it Gail, but it totally beats the SmashBox Photo Finish!!! It goes on even more smoothly and yet you can feel it settle down for the next step. It also isn’t as slick, which was causing my foundation to slide off a little. Now, the product is totally clear, so it doesn’t come in the green. However, it did such an awesome job prepping my skin for foundation and concealer that I had NO REDNESS and didn’t even need the green tint! I’m definitely buying this one after I try all the rest. Note that for Beauty Insiders at Sephora, you can currently buy the new BareVitamins Prime Time Foundation Primer Oil Control online before it is available to the public.
Given that I tried that horrible olive oil cleanser, I felt like a needed a masque! So, I tried Chanel’s Masque Lift Express Line Smoothing Mask. I followed the directions at night, putting a thick coat on for 10 minutes and then washing clean. It felt nice, but I didn’t really feel like it did anything. THEN … I topped it off with Chanel’s Age Delay Nuit Time-Fighting Rejuvenation Night Cream, which is definitely just a bit thicker than the day-time lotion and WOW! I swear to you that my fine lines on my forehead were visibly reduced in the morning. I don’t think it did so much for the deep eyebrow wrinkle, but I totally was a skeptic and didn’t expect anything! In fact, I felt like the night cream was a little heavy and took FOREVER to soak in. But I was convinced in the morning. Chanel makes amazing face products! At $135 for 1.7 ounces, it really ought to work, though, don't you think? Unfortunately, the Chanel mask is also out of stock online right now and I want to get it with the totally awesome Neiman Marcus Camp Gorgeous Tote & Products they are offering with your purchase of $85 right now. Also at night I tried the DHC Q10 Co-Enzyme Eye Cream. It smelled really great and felt super on my eyes after having the tightness of the anti-puffiness lotion. However, it was also a little bit thick for me at night. Not sure if it really helped, but it was fun!
DHC Mild Cleansing Cream: I preferred the DHC Cleansing Foam (not cream) that I used the other day, but this was a nice change for a majorly gentle clean. I prefer the Philosophy products I have been using for a softer cleanse at this point, however.
The must miss of the day is BareVitamins’ Prime Time Eyelid Primer. Thanks to Michelle for letting me give it a try, but … YUCK! It goes on way too thick and works worse than concealer. I won’t be purchasing or recommending this product and it may steer me away from eyelid primer altogether!
Unfortunately, my face is finally starting to have a bit of a reaction to all of the product testing! So … tonight I’m going to use some of my products for acne and see how those work. Even with the few bumps I’m experiencing, the results of all of the product testing have been well worth it!
